Account Owners, Administrators, Team Leaders and Team Admins can Impersonate learners without having to use the learner's credentials (username and password) to log in as them. In Impersonation mode, admins can navigate in Learner View to the Home tab, Content Library tab, and Live Sessions tab to view the content and ILT sessions assigned and available in the course Content Library for the impersonated learner user. Admins have read-only permission in the Impersonation view and cannot edit settings or start or finish courses on behalf of the user they are impersonating. Admins can only impersonate 1 user at a time and will be automatically logged out of the Impersonation mode after the default session inactivity expiration period defined for the account.

Impersonation can be enabled by a user with Account Owner access at:  Account settings,>Litmos Features,>Impersonation,>Enable Impersonation,>Save

Once enabled, Account Owners will then need to promote selected Account Owners, Administrators, Team Leaders and Team Admins users as Impersonators.

Account owners can simply remove users for the Impersonators list if they no longer need the impersonate permission.

Any Admin user with permission to Impersonate can use the ‘Impersonate’ button when viewing a user’s profile to impersonate that user and access their learner view.

When the Administrators impersonate a user, they will be able to see that user's profile as if they have logged in as the user in Learner view. To exit this impersonation view, there is an "Exit Impersonate Mode" button at the bottom of the screen.

For security reasons, Administrators can impersonate only 1 user at a time, and the impersonation mode will be automatically terminated after inactivity for the defined session expiration period (as set on the account). The impersonation view session timeouts for will “reset” from the last activity performed by the impersonator in Litmos.

Impersonation activity and logs will be captured in the Dashboard > Activity logs under a separate category - “Impersonation". Also note that the Impersonation will also be logged and displayed in the Impersonator user’s Recent Activity.

Important Notes: 

• Administrators can only access the Impersonation mode for active users.
• Team Leaders/Team Admins with Impersonate permissions can only impersonate users who are their Team members.
• Only 1 user can be impersonated at a time
• Impersonating a user only shows their Learner View
