The Bulk User Import csv file uses the username as the unique identifier. Listing an existing username on the import file will update an existing user, while a new unique username will create a new user

How to Perform a Bulk User Import to Create or Update User Profiles in Litmos:

1.) Log into Litmos as Admin, Account Owner or Team Leader/Team Administrator

2.) People tab > Options > Import People in Bulk > Select the link 'use this template to get started' to download the import file

3.) For best results don't remove or rearrange or edit any columns of the import file 

4.) Populate the following required data in the file, for up to 5000 users:

• Username
• First Name
• Last Name
• Email - This is a required field in the scenario you are updating the user's Manager field
• Team1 - This is required for Team Leaders/Team Admins performing an import since they can only import users to the team(s) that they manage. Without a team code, the import will fail for team leaders/team admins. Retrieve team codes in bulk from Team report in Reporting Engine or from the Teams Quick Report
• Custom Fields: If the file contains values for Advanced User Custom Fields, Advanced user custom fields must be enabled on the account in order to process the import file.
  The field value for a custom field must comply with the chosen field type, or the import will fail for users without valid values. As such, please check your organization’s date format and any available drop-down values. An invalid data type or format will result in user import failure.If a custom field provides a default value, this default value will be applied to any applicable column that contains an empty cell.If a mandatory value is required for a custom field, the custom field value must be entered for each user or the associated users won't be processed. A missing value for a mandatory value will result in a user import failure.

5.) After saving changes to the import template > Select 'Choose File' > Open

6.) Tick to select the option 'The first row of my file contains column titles'

7.) Note the default Language and Time zone selections

8.) Next

9.) Map Fields > Map the required fields and each of the fields that you wish to update

10.) At the bottom of the mapping view, tick to select whether to Send Assignment Emails or Skip First Login

11.) Import

12.) Verify Results - After the import finishes, navigate to People tab and download the import results CSV from the right-hand side, under Recent Imports. This lists the import status for each user record, and any failures are flagged so you can correct and re-import the failed rows.
