When you search Litmos content, there are many options to find what you are looking for. Not only does it include autocomplete and autocorrect capability, the search supports hashtag search, fuzzy search, direct match, stemming, and ignoring stop words. Keywords extend throughout content metadata including Topics, Languages, Tags, and Skills, as well as Points, Badges, and Certificates.

Autocomplete

Typing three letters into the search bar generates a list of Suggested Titles. You can also select from recent searches that were performed. The Suggested Titles and Recent Searches only match against the Content Title.

If you do not select from the Suggested Titles and continue your search, the search term is matched against the content metadata including Title, Description Topics, Languages, and Skills. By default, the search is looking for content that has a direct match, but also uses stemming, and ignoring stop words. (See below). To enable the fuzzy search, select 'Show more results.' The fuzzy search enables the search results to include content that are off by a few letters. For example, if the search includes 'cat,' the fuzzy search would include content that is off by a few letters, such as 'cut' or 'cot.'

Deep Search

Deep searching of content allows searches to be two levels deep. In other words, it will search for Modules that are part of a Course or Learning Path and find relevant learning material. All of the search functionalities noted above apply within the context of deep search.

Matched On

"Matched on" labels display on the search results indicating why specific Courses or Learning Paths are the best match for the search keyword. The Account Owner and the Administrator search results include Assets, Modules, Courses, and Learning Paths.

The Team Administrator and Team Leader search results include Courses and Learning Paths.

Autocorrect

If you incorrectly type a word in Search, a list of corrected titles will appear. For example, a search for “leaduhship” will return results for “leadership.”

Hashtag Search

Hashtag search allows user to cross-reference content under a specific topic or theme. Searching for tags with '#" prefix acts like filtering for that specific tag. By including '#' with a tag search term surfaces the results that has the exact match on the tags. Searching for a tag with '#' prefix, brings back content that has the exact tag associated with it and excludes content that do not have this tag association.

Fuzzy Search

You can search for relevant content without having to know exactly what you're looking for or the exact title of the content by selecting 'Show more results.'

Stemming

If you search, "program," you will see search results for “programs,” “programming,” “programmed,” etc.

Stop Words

Litmos search will ignore “stop” words such as “the,” “is,” and “and.”
